3 Ways to Create a Strong Password

As the old saying goes, “to err is human.” And so is making a password and forgetting them – trust me, it happens even to the best of us. Recent studies show that an average user has 90 online accounts and while it’s easier to have the same login credential for all of your accounts, it makes them just as easy to hack and it puts all your data at risk.

It’s 2020 and we still suck at making strong passwords – and worst, remembering them!

Recent studies show that even in this day and age, “123456” and “password” are still among the most commonly used passwords. Another common but equally bad habit is to create a single login credentials across multiple accounts. While that’s definitely easier, it also makes your accounts easy to hack and puts all your data at risk.

Here are 3 easy steps to create a strong and memorable password for all of your accounts.

Numbers and Special Characters Combo

Probably the most commonly used method but equally effective in keeping your account secured. Mixing up letters, numbers, and special characters can make up a strong password that is not easily hackable. Make a cryptic code out of an expression you randomly heard that one time or even a phrase you saw on TV. The randomness of it, strengthened by the mixed characters, makes it difficult for hackers to get access to your password.

Phrase and Sentence Method

Think of a phrase or a sentence with at least eight words – it could be a quote from your favorite book or a lyric from your go-to karaoke song. Take the first letters and there – you got yourself a password. Make it even more secure by mixing up the upper-case letters with the lower-case ones. It sounds gibberish but perfectly makes sense from your perspective.

Create a Unique Pattern

Draw patterns across your keyboard – it could be the shape of your initials or a geometrical shape. This method will generate random passwords that you can easily remember but are equally secure. The more complicated the pattern is, the better.

Protect your account.

Something as trivial as creating a strong password could go a long way – in terms of securing your personal accounts and more importantly, your personal details and assets. Hackers are getting more sophisticated with their hacking attempts and it’s paramount that we’re always a hundred steps ahead of these cyberattacks.
